Article 1 (Definition of personal information)
- “Personal information” refers to “personal information” as defined in the Personal Information Protection Law, and refers to information about a living individual which can identify the specific individual by name, date of birth, address, telephone number, contact details or other description contained in such information, or which can identify the specific individual by appearance, fingerprints, voiceprint data, the insurance identification number of the individual’s health insurance card or other information alone (personal identification information).
- “Historical information and characteristic information” in personal information refers to information other than that defined as “personal information” above, and includes services used, products purchased, page and advertisement viewing histories, search keywords, dates and times of use, method of use, use environment, postal code, gender, occupation, age, IP address, cookie information, location information, individual identification information for computers or other devices, etc.
Article 2 (Personal information collection method)
During registration procedures by users, the Company may ask for personal information such as name, date of birth, address, telephone number, e-mail address, bank account number, credit card number or driver’s license number. In addition, the Company may collect, from business partners (including information providers, advertisers, advertisement distribution destinations) and other sources, information regarding payment and records of business transactions between users and business partners that include users’ personal information.
Article 3 (Purpose of personal information collection and use)
The Company shall collect and use personal information for the following purposes.
a) Order confirmation and inquiry
b) Product shipment confirmation and inquiry
c) Response to inquiries
d) Sending of direct mail or materials about products, new functions, updated information, sales campaigns, etc.
e) To inform users as needed about maintenance, communicate important announcements, etc.
f) To identify and prohibit use by users who have violated the rules of use or users who attempt to use the services for illegal or wrongful purposes
g) To have a customer view, change or delete his or her own registration information or view his or her usage status.
Purposes incident to the above purposes of use
Article 4 (Disclosure of personal information)
- If a customer requests the disclosure of his or her own personal information, the information shall be disclosed without delay to the customer in question only. However, if disclosure would result in any of the following, disclosure of all or part of the information requested may be denied, and if a request for disclosure of information is denied, that fact shall be communicated without delay.
a) Possibility of danger to the life, physical safety, property or other rights or interests of the customer or a third party
b) Possibility of significant hindrance to the proper conduct of business operations of the Company
c) Legal violations
- Notwithstanding the provisions of the preceding paragraph, in principle, information other than historical information, characteristic information and other personal information shall not be disclosed.
Article 5 (Prohibition of provision of personal information to third parties)
Personal information obtained from customers shall be handled appropriately, and shall not be disclosed to third parties without prior customer consent except in in the event of any of the following. However, notwithstanding the above, personal information may be disclosed to third parties when permitted under the Personal Information Protection Law or other laws.
a) Customer consent has been obtained
b) Disclosure of personal information is necessary for the protection of human life, physical safety or property, and customer consent is difficult to obtain
c) Disclosure of personal information is necessary for public safety, and customer consent is difficult to obtain
d) Disclosure of personal information is requested by a federal government agency or local government, and disclosure of such information is required by law
e) Disclosure to a business operator to whom the Company has consigned business operations in order to provide services requested by the customer
f) Succession of the Company’s business due to a merger or other reason
Article 6 (Revision and deletion of personal information)
If a customer deems that his or her personal information handled by the Company is erroneous, the customer may request the company to revise, make additions to or delete such personal information. To make such requests, the customer may contact the Company using the contact information in Article 10 below. If the Company receives a request from a customer as described above and deems a response to such request to be necessary, the Company shall revise, etc., the information in question. In the event that the Company revises, etc., personal information, or decides not to revise, etc., personal information, this fact shall be communicated to the customer in question.
Article 7 (Security measures for personal information)
In the provision of services, customers’ personal information shall be maintained in an accurate and updated state, and thorough security measures shall be implemented to prevent unauthorized access, loss, destruction, falsification, leakage, etc. of personal information.
Article 8 (Termination of use, etc. of personal information)
If a customer requests the termination of use or the deletion (“termination of use, etc.” hereinafter) of his or her personal information due to the handling of such personal information beyond the purposes of use or the wrongful acquisition of such personal information, the Company shall conduct the necessary investigations without delay, and based on the results of such investigations shall terminate use, etc. of such personal information and communicate this fact to the customer in question. However, if the termination of use, etc. of personal information incurs significant expense or is difficult to carry out, alternative measures shall be taken.
